Key Stage 4

Year 10

In year 10 our pupils expand on the options from year 9 and discover how to start leading parts of lessons. They can re-evaluate the choice of pathway they chose in year 9 and opt for an alternative if they feel they would be better suited learning in a different way. The emphasis in year 10 is on learning to lead, as well as following statutory requirements in the curriculum they are introduced to some finer points of leadership in preparation for their Young leader Award in year 11.

Year 11

In year 11 the focus of the pupils is quite clearly on Leading for Life. They take a major part in completing and delivering their Level 1 in Sports Leadership Award through a variety of sports and in a variety of different facilities. For each lesson they are timetabled into a specific facility and a suitable activity is initially led by the Teacher. As the pupils develop confidence they start to take a more active role in the delivery of alternative activities, and as they gain more responsibility they also take the lead in choosing a suitable activity through which they complete their Award.

Each group every half term will have 2 hours of high quality PE, with one lesson being indoors and the other outdoors. Their time will be split across the year between the various different facilities;

  •
  •  Dance Studio
  •  Gym
  •  Sports Hall
  •  Fields
  •  Courts
  •  3G Astroturf Pitch
