BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Sport Introduction
This is a 2 year course and successful candidates will receive the equivalent of 2 higher grades (A-C) at GCSE. This course is suitable for all students who have a passion for sport and is designed to give accreditation not only to those who are good performers but also to those students who are interested in becoming leaders, coaches, referees or even administrators in sport.
Assessment There is no final examination in this course. Assessment decisions are made by students producing assignment for each of the units listed below. Assignments are graded Pass (= C grade), Merit (= B grade) or Distinction (= A grade). Students, who in the opinion of staff, are not going to achieve a pass grade may be allowed to gain accreditation through the Level 1 BTEC Sports Course. Course Structure Year 1 · Health, Safety & Injury in Sport · Work Based Project in Sport · Practical Sport Year 2 · The Body in Sport · Planning and Leading Sports Activities · Preparation for Sport Higher Education Students who successfully complete this course can move onto the BTEC National Diploma in Sport which is equivalent to 3 ‘A’ levels. Alternatively students may choose to study ‘A’ Levels of their choice. Careers Obviously this course is ideal for anyone wanting to pursue a career in sport. Students who have studied sport courses have gone with sport coaching, teaching and physiotherapy.
