Fisher Falcons Flying High!

Next week sees our esports squad, the 'Fisher Falcons' competing in two finals and three quarter-final matches in two different competitions in efforts to be crowned Digital Schoolhouse Regional champions and British Esports Association season champions in Overwatch, Rocket League and League of Legends.

On Wednesday, 'Veracity' (Josh Love, Harrison Barber-Scargill and Bailey Barber-Scargill), our school 3v3 Overwatch champions will head to Newcastle to play against 4 other schools from all over the North of England in a bid to to be crowned Digital Schoolhouse regional champions and win a place at the grand final to be held at London's GFinity Arena in April.  This can be watched via the Digital Schoolhouse twitch channel here: www.twitch.tv/dsh_tv

The following day, Veracity will join the rest of the Fisher Falcons Overwatch squad as they face Carmel College in Darlington in an effort to be crowned Season 2 winners of the British Esports Association Championships.  The winners of this match will face the winners of Season 1 to find the UK's best school-based Overwatch squad at Insomnia games festival in Birmingham.

The rest of the Fisher Falcons squad are involved in quarter-final action in both Rocket League and League of Legends, again in efforts to be crowned season 2 winners of the British Esports Association Championships.

Esports, or competitive gaming, has really taken off at SJF and this year we had nearly 200 players involved in our in-house tournament, with at least another 20 pupils involved in the organisation and running of the tournament and involved in 'shoutcasting' (commentating) on games for our very own twitch channel www.twitch.tv/sjf_dewsbury - designed and run by students.

Watch this space for results later next week!
