Admissions

Choosing the right school is a significant step, and we’re delighted that you are considering joining our Catholic community.

Whether you are applying for Year 7 entry, looking to join us mid‑year, or exploring the next stage of your journey in our Sixth Form, this page will guide you through each stage of the admissions process.

Year 7 Admissions

The Local Academy Council of St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy are responsible for the schools admissions.  However, the admission of Year 6 students for a Year 7 place is managed by the Local Authority (council) in which the student is resident.  For the majority of our applicants this will be Kirklees; however, applications from any Local Authority are welcomed.

Applications need to be submitted to the resident authority when students are in Year 6.  Applications must be submitted no later than 31st October, and parents will be informed of their school allocation, by the resident authority, on the first Monday of March.

If you live in the Kirklees area, you can visit the Apply for a secondary school place page on the Kirklees Council website. If you are not a Kirklees resident, please contact the local authority where you live.

All applicants are also required to submit a Supplementary Information Form, and should return it directly to the Admissions Officer at St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy, along with copies of any supporting evidence.  St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy cannot accept responsibility for any original documents submitted.

In Year Admissions

Parents/Carers will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form and return it directly to the Admissions Officer at St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy, along with copies of any supporting evidence. St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy cannot accept responsibility for any original documents submitted.

Appeals

If we are unable to offer your child a place at St John Fisher, we will write to confirm this.  The letter will state why admission could not be offered and will include information about the right to appeal, along with the deadline for appealing and the appropriate contact details.

The Diocese of Leeds administers appeals for our school. The team organizes the independent admission appeal panels and co-ordinates the appeals process in accordance with the School Admissions Appeals Code. Further information on the appeals timescales, and how to submit an appeal, can be found in the 'Admissions Policies and Documents' section below.
