World Book Day 2023

This year at St John Fisher saw lots of Where’s Wally characters within the Science Faculty, a Mary Poppins in Geography (Mrs Patel) , some Alice in Wonderland (Mrs Rawat), a Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (Miss Patel) and a plethora of Harry Potter characters (Mr Sykes, Miss Thornton, Mrs Lewis and Miss Brown). Students loved seeing these different characters and being taught by Professor McGonagall instead of Miss Thornton.

Cambridge block housed its very own Hogwarts with a potions classroom home to Professor Snape, and with duels with witches. Readings from Harry Potter took place in Mr Sykes classroom at break and lunchtime. Each lesson, a masked reader was shown through the whiteboards reading excerpts of their favourite book, with students asked to guess the reader. Who knew that Tik-Tok could be useful for creating such an engaging activity for pupils and staff to enjoy?

This year students have been emailed their book token so make sure they put it to good use by scanning the QR code.

We look forward to next year where more staff will be donning their costumes and more activities will be in place to continue to foster a love of reading.
