Tuesday 18 July 2023 Memphis Inspired Clock Designs Mrs Gavaghan’s Year 9 worked hard on designing and making clocks for a client of their choice using The ‘Memphis’ Design movement as inspiration. The Memphis Design Movement was around in the 1980’s and it injected an element of fun into design, architecture and interiors at that time.. I remember it well!

Monday 5 June 2023 Visit to Kirklees College On Friday 26th May, Mrs Hodson and myself took eight students to visit the Hair and Beauty department of Kirklees College. The girls had a talk about the courses offered and the entry requirement, a tour of the facilities, but then were hands on with the equipment, curling, straightening, crimping and plaiting hair, as well as giving each other a beauty hand massage in the beauty parlour.

Monday 5 June 2023 Global Warming Assembly Students in the Environment Committee with Ms Rose delivered an assembly to all year groups on Global Warming, and the effects of this on the Dewsbury area. Committee members researched particular issues linked to Global Warming and prepared powerpoint slides for the assembly. Isaac Walpole, Alan Rajpold, and Solomon Muzumbala, were fantastic when they stepped up in front of all year groups to publically speak on issues they care so passionately about, as well as learning a lot about public speaking too. Leila Farrow-Deighton, as another committee member prepared one of the slides, encouraging us all to recycle.
